Köppern is working for the HBI Industry since the beginning of this technology in the seventies by supplying machines and equipment for hot briquetting of direct-reduced iron.
As of mid 2005, 101 machines for 26 DR-modules and different reduction technologies have been sold forming a wide basis of experience in engineering and operation. The layout of the briquetting process and machines is furthermore supported by test equipment in laboratory as well as in industrial size in the Köppern pilot plant.
The continuous commitment of Köppern to HBI is underlined by the installation of companies offering local service and maintenance to HBI plants in Venezuela , Australia and India .
