HYL Technologies is now part of the Tenova Group, part of the Techint organization, and is dedicated to the development and commercialization of direct reduction technologies and services. Throughout its history, technological innovation has been the key to the company's success, since the startup of the world’s first direct reduction plant in 1957, which used HYL technology. A half-century later, HYL is still a leader in the field of direct reduction and related services and technologies.

HYL has developed and accumulated a wealth of experience in all aspects of the steelmaking production chain — from mines and pellet plant operations, to direct reduction, electric furnace steelmaking, rolling and finishing. This experience is made available to companies worldwide via the direct reduction technologies and steelmaking services we provide.

Together with Danieli & Co., HYL markets its technology under the ENERGIRON trademark to clients worldwide. ENERGIRON technology features the ZR (Self-Reforming) Process, the highly successful pioneer technology in reformerless shaft reduction. This technology produces DRI with high metallization and high carbon content for quality steelmaking, including:

• Traditional DRI (cold product in pellet or lump form)
  
• HBI (Hot Briquetted Iron)
• HYTEMP Iron (hot product, pneumatically transported to the EAF)
  
• HCI (High Carbide Iron), high metallization DRI with 3-5% carbon as iron carbide
